Eligibility Criteria

The health and dental plans were approved by student referendum and as a result are now a requirement of your enrolment at Bow Valley College through your membership in the Students' Association. The plans provide protection and security for eligible students minimizing the effects of injury or ailments. The cost of the plans is included in your institutional fees provided you meet the eligibility enrolment criteria:

1) you are a member of the Students' Association of Bow Valley College,
2) you are in an applicable full-time program (taking 60% of a full course load),
3) you are residing in Canada, and
4) you are under the age of 70.

Please note the following student groups are ineligible programs:
                            Reason for ineligibility
  Non-career program, duration of program (8 months and less)
   Academic Upgrading
   Work Experience
   Health Care Aide
   Recreation Therapy Aide
   Open Studies
 Part Time Students   Does not meet program course load criteria of 60% or more.  

Both fully qualified Bow Valley students, indigenous and government sponsored students, are covered through the Students' Association Health and Dental plan and are typically also covered by their band or Alberta Works Government Plan.  If you wish to opt-out of your student plan plan, please click here.

Students with a Disability
Students who are taking part-time course load but are considered full-time by the institution may be eligible to opt in to the Student Health and Dental Plan. Please contact the SABVC Student Benefits Plan Office for further details, prior to the applicable deadline for your semester period of enrolment.
