All international coverages are branded under myCanadaPlan, and the insurer used to underwrite and administer the plans depends on who the participating institution chooses.
Student Benefit Coordinators and the International Departments collaborate with each participating school for the procurement of enrolment criteria. Gallivan administers the plan based on the established guidelines and enrolment data is provided to the insurer in an encrypted format.
International coverages and effective periods vary with each institution, based on the agreement with the institution, duration of a term, or whether a student is eligible for provincial health in the province, they are studying in. Where international students are eligible for provincial coverage, specialized Bridge coverage + Repatriation plans can be implemented.
Where opt-out scenarios exist, these are handled by the Plan’s coordinator through the Plan website and facilitated through our in-house platform, and communicated back to the client.
Family Access
Most international plans do allow for family-dependent coverage provided the student is active on the plan and the family resides with the student in Canada. All family enrolments are administered by the Plan’s coordinator through the Plan website and facilitated through our in-house platform.
