Opting Out of mycanadaplan

International Student Medical Insurance Plan - mycanadaplan, plus Opt-Out

Deadline to submit applications
30 days from the official start date of your program.

Only international students covered by the Manitoba Health Care Program are eligible to opt-out of the International Student Medical Insurance Plan by the applicable deadline.

International Opt-out Requirement

You are required to provide proof of your enrollment in the Manitoba Health Care program by attaching the Manitoba Health Confirmation Letter showing the effective start date and the expiry date of the provincial coverage when you are completing the online form.

Important notes:

Students who opt-out of the International Student Medical Insurance Plan will no longer be able to submit claims to this program. It is important for students to contact the Benefits Plan Office should they have outstanding health expenses that occurred prior to obtaining Manitoba coverage. Opting out may result in those expenses not being covered by either program.
NO EXCEPTIONS will be made if the deadline is missed. It is the student's responsibility to pay the plan's mandatory fees, should they miss the applicable opt-out deadline.
Once you complete the International Student Medical Insurance Plan opt-out form, you will receive an automated email confirmation. Please keep this email for your records as it is your only proof of submitting an opt-out request.
Submitting this form does not confirm that you have successfully opted out. The opt-out application is pending until the Benefits Plan Office receives confirmation from the insurer that your coverage has been cancelled.
