Plan Details: Domestic and International Students

myStudentPlan is an Extended Healthcare Benefits & Dental Plan that provides Domestic and International Students coverage in prescription drugs, vision, dental care, paramedical practitioners, and amount others not covered by the province health care. myCanadaPlan provides International Students coverage in the event of an emergency medical occurrence, accident, or illness while they are studying in Canada.

myStudentPlan - Health Coverage

Your Benefits eCard allows you direct billing with pharmacies and dental offices. To obtain your Benefits eCard you must register at https://eprofile.claimsecure.com/?dest=register

Students can save money on certain eligible services if they visit one of our select savings members.

The following is the coverage for your Extended Healthcare Benefits:

Extended Health Benefits Coverage
Prescription Drugs 80%

Maximum of $2,000 per benefit year.

Contraceptives to a maximum $60 per benefit year.
Allergy serums, Insulin injectables, Insulin supplies under pseudo din #910333 to a maximum of $500 per benefit year, Gardasil Vaccine
Based on the Provincial Drug Formulary with a generic rider; Dispensing Fee of $10.50 applies

Vision 80%

$75 maximum for One eye exam and $110 maximum for Prescribed lenses/frames/contact lenses/laser eye surgery; Every 24 months.

Paramedical Practitioners 80%

Maximum of $300 per practitioner per benefit year for the following practitioners:
Podiatrist*; Acupuncturist (must be registered with the Traditional Council of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario); Registered Dietician; Naturopath or Chiropractor; Registered massage therapist*; Physiotherapist*.

*Physician's prescription/referral required for indicated services.

Speech Therapist 80%

Maximum of $1,000 per benefit year for Speech therapist, if recommended by a physician

Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapy, Master of Social Work 80%

Maximum of $1,500 *Clinical psychologist, psychotherapy, Master of Social Work, *no physician referral.

Orthopedic Supplies 80%

Maximum of $200 per benefit year * Orthopedic supplies and custom-made orthopedic shoes, if recommended by a physician, podiatrist, or chiropodist.

Ambulance 80%

Reasonable and customary charges.

Medical Equipment and Supplies 100%

Including: wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, traction kits which are rented for temporary therapeutic use; prosthetic appliances; Vaccines (excluding Hepatitis B), compound serums, colostomy supplies, injectable drugs, and varicose vein injections, if medically necessary.

Life Benefit

Maximum $10,000 Death Benefit.

Outside of Canada

Maximum $10,000 per accident; and Accident Death Benefit $10,000. Under Accidental Death & Dismemberment - AD&D Benefit per policy guidelines.

The following is the coverage for your Dental Plan:

Please submit an estimate/pre-authorization prior to specialist services and any dental treatment plan exceeding $500
Annual Maximum

Diagnostic & Preventative 100%

Limited to once exam per policy year. * Radiographs - including any necessary x-rays and diagnostic services at time of exam * Fluoride Treatment once per policy year * Cleaning and polishing limited to a maximum of one unit each policy year * Scaling to a maximum of 4 units each policy year.

Minor Restorative 75%

Amalgam, silicate, composite or tooth-coloured fillings and space maintainers *tooth-coloured fillings, *Limited to once every 2 years (same tooth surfaces) *Maximum benefit payable will not exceed the fee for 5 surface restorations *Space maintainers for a dependent child up to 14 years of age.

Oral Surgery 15%

Extractions and residual root removal. Limited to 2 wisdom teeth per policy year.

Major Restorative Services, Endodontics, Periodontic 10%

Root Canals

In the event of any discrepancy between the information herein and our contract with the insurer, the terms of the contract will apply. All benefits payable through the student plan are based on reasonable and customary charges.

The following is the coverage for your Mental Plan:

Extended Mental Health Benefits Coverage
Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapy, Master of Social Work 80%

Maximum $1500 per benefit year. This coverage is part of the Extended Healthcare Benefits, and you must be enrolled in the Extended Healthcare Benefits to claim these services.

myWellness - myWellness

myWellness is a student mental health and wellness program that is included as part of your benefits plan. Through myWellness you can access support resources, online counseling, a toolbox full of helpful wellness solutions, and a free anonymous mental health assessment.

myCanadaPlan - International Student Emergency Plan

myCanadaPlan provides coverage in the event of an emergency medical occurrence, accident, or illness while you are studying in Canada at your designated learning institution. A pre-existing exclusion may apply to medical conditions and/or symptoms that existed before you came to Canada for study.

myCanadaPlan - Direct Billing Networks/Preapproved Clinics – International Students

You are not required to use the clinics listed below, however the following clinics are set up to bill certain (and in some cases all) of your eligible medical expenses directly to iA Assist.

Members will only receive communication if they reach out to assistance for a case or have submitted a claim to our claims team, or in cases where additional information is required, the student member will receive a follow up email directly.

In the event you are issued a medical bill and/or must pay for a clinic visit or have visited another hospital/clinic then before you leave the clinic ask for a copy of all the medical records related to your visit and follow the instructions under Making a Claim.

Should you require immediate medical attention due to an illness, injury, or accident, please contact iA Assist immediately at the following numbers - 1.866.472.8356 or +1 647.288.3065 toll-free from Canada and the USA collect where available, unless you have an emergent medical occurrence, please dial 911.

Calling prior to walking into a clinic will help you to manage the clinic choices and allow the call center to confirm our booking with the specified clinic and provide them with a Verification of Benefits (VOB), allowing for your visit to be direct billed to the insurer.
