Eligibility Criteria

All undergraduate domestic, indigenous, government-sponsored and international students who meet the following criteria are automatically enrolled in the Legal Care Program and do not need to apply for coverage.

Students who are members of the CUESA - Concordia University of Edmonton Students' Association and meet the following eligibility criteria are automatically assessed the Legal Care Program Fee on their tuition.

You are eligible if:

You are admitted to an eligible program as having full-time status at Concordia University of Edmonton; and

You are an international student studying for more than 12 months; and

You reside in Canada and study in person or online; and

You are under the age of 70.

Enrollment Confirmation

Review your student account statement and search for the Legal Care Program Fee to confirm you are covered by the Legal Care Program - mystudentplan.

Coverage Period

Eligible students will receive 12 months of coverage starting the first day of the month when classes begin.

Fall Semester

Coverage September 1st to August 31st

Winter Semester

Coverage January 1st to December 31st

If you are not sure if you meet the eligibility criteria, please visit the Online Services at the University and login using your student account. If you have been assessed with the CUESA Legal Care Program fee, then you are enrolled!

Opting Out of the Legal Care Program

Students may apply to opt out of the plan.

Opting Out of this plan

You can withdraw from the legal Care Program based on your personal choice by completing the opt-out application form before the deadline.

Things to consider before opting out of the program:

  • Eligibility: Eligible students can opt out once per academic year.
  • Opt-Out Period: Apply online at the start of your study period before the term deadline (new students or returning students at the anniversary of begining their program).
  • Annual Renewal: Submit the form yearly to keep your waiver active.
  • Automatic Enrollment: Re-enrollment occurs on the opt-out anniversary.
  • Coverage: Only students are covered; family members cannot be added.
  • Restrictions: Non-eligible students cannot opt-in, and those who opted out cannot re-enroll.
