Wyckham Pharmacy is locally owned by Pharmacist Thomas Yeung and is the only on-campus pharmacy. Wyckham Pharmacy provides the highest level of savings and coverage for MRU students.

90% COVERAGE: The student health plan reimburses 90% of the cost of eligible prescriptions purchased at Wyckham Pharmacy, all other pharmacies are covered at 80%.

CAPPED DISPENSING FEE: Wyckham Pharmacy has agreed to charge a $9 dispensing fee for students on the Student Health Plan.

What pharmacy benefits does Sobeys National Pharmacy Group offer?

Within Ontario, the dispensing fee is $8.83 and drug mark-up is capped at 8% (6% on drug costs over $1,000).

In British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island, the discount is $2.00 per prescription applied against the dispensing fee.

In Alberta, Nova Scotia, and Saskatchewan, the discount is applied per prescription as $1.00 against member out-of-pocket co-pay and $1.00 credited annually to the plan.

For Sobeys Pharmacy by Mail (mail order service), the dispensing fee is $4.99, and mark-up is capped at 8%.

How do I access the pharmacy benefits?

Present your drug card when having your prescription filled and you’ll automatically save on the dispensing fee and mark up costs.

Is my family eligible to access the pharmacy benefits?

Yes. All covered dependents are eligible to receive the pharmacy benefits.

How do I get a Lawtons Discount Card?

To get a Lawtons Discount Card that entitles you to discounts on products, go to: https://services.lawtons.ca/ppn and use Username: PeopleCorp and Password: PCPPN19!

After you register, your card will be mailed to you. To get your discount while shopping at Lawtons locations, you’ll need to present your Lawtons Discount Card and Photo ID at the time of purchase.

Can I get my prescriptions transferred to a Sobeys pharmacy from another pharmacy?

Transferring your prescriptions is easy. Visit or call the preferred pharmacy network location and request a transfer of your file. The pharmacy will collect the necessary information from you and take care of the rest.

How does Sobeys Pharmacy by Mail work?

Metro and Food Basics Pharmacy logo

Your school is enrolled in HealthWorks, which is Metro Ontario Pharmacies Limited’s Preferred Provider Network (PPN). Students that are part of a Preferred Provider Network are eligible for a preferred dispensing fee of $5.99.

To save on your prescriptions, simply present your Metro Ontario Pharmacies Limited drug card along with your drug benefit card at a Metro or Food Basics pharmacy. Your school is enrolled in HealthWorks, which is a Preferred Provider Network that allows you to save on your prescriptions at any Metro or Food Basics pharmacy in Ontario.

2. How do I receive preferred pricing at a Metro and Food Basics pharmacy?

Simply present your Metro Ontario Pharmacies Limited drug card along with your Plan Card at the pharmacy. You will automatically receive preferred pricing on your prescriptions. No sign up is required.

3. Is my family eligible for preferred pricing?

Anyone with a Metro Ontario Pharmacies Limited drug card is eligible for preferred pricing on prescriptions.

4. At what locations am I eligible for preferred pricing?

You are eligible for preferred pricing at any Metro or Food Basics pharmacy in Ontario. Simply go to metro.ca/pharmacy or foodbasics.ca/pharmacy to find your closest pharmacy.

5. What if I currently get my prescriptions filled at another pharmacy? How can I get my prescriptions filled at a Metro or Food Basics pharmacy?

Simply contact a Metro or Food Basics pharmacy and give them the phone number of the other pharmacy and the details of the prescriptions you would like transferred. The pharmacy will handle the rest.

  • No Cost Eye Exams for students eligible under the SAMRU Student Health & Dental Plan.
  • No Cost Prescription Eye Wear* with pricing for some eyewear that falls within the SAMRU Student Health & Dental Plan coverage limits. (*depending on prescription needs).
  • Direct billing means students can often get an eye exam, frames, and lenses without paying a penny out of pocket.

As a member of your student benefit plan, you are entitled to receive eyecare benefits through the IRIS Advantage program. There is no cost to you to receive these benefits and are combinable with any existing extended health plan you are currently using. When you registered yourself and your family members, you would have received, via email a confirmation along with your offers as an attachment to the confirmation email. Where possible, we can direct bill insurance providers.

These benefits are applicable to any additional dependents in your household that are on your student benefit plan.
