Health and Dental Flex Plan Application

Deadline to Flex your Student Benefits Plan

Spring-Summer term - June 10^th, 2024

After the deadline, the online form will not be available.

Flex Plan Eligibility

There are 2 circumstances in which students enrolled in the Student Health and Dental Plan may flex their plan: (1) when they are new students or (2) when they are returning students on the anniversary of enrolling in the Student Benefits Plan.

Eligibility Criteria to Flex your Student Benefits Plan

All eligible students enrolled in a career program as having full-time status at the Bow Valley College are automatically enrolled in the Balanced Health and Dental plans. Students may flex their plan and must meet the following criteria in order to have their application approved:

1 New Students Enrolled in the Plan

New students or Returning students who change from part-time to full-time status and are eligible for the plan for first time; and
Assessed the Health Plan Fee and Dental Plan Fee on their student account; and
Must submit their flex application before the applicable term deadline.

Eligible students who miss the term deadline would be able to flex their plan on the anniversary of enrollment on the Student Benefits Plan.

2 Returning Students Active in the Plan

Returning students on the anniversary of enrollment; and
Assessed the Health Plan Fee and Dental Plan Fee on their student account; and
have ever not applied to flex their plan; and
Must submit their flex application before the applicable term deadline.

Eligible students who miss the term deadline would be able to flex their plan on the next anniversary of enrollment on the Student Benefits Plan.

How to Flex Your Plan

To flex your plan, you must meet the flex plan eligibility criteria and complete the online form before the applicable deadline.

Steps to Flex your Student Benefits Plan

The following are the steps to submit a mystudentplan Flex Plan Application:

1 Confirm Eligibility

Complete the questions to confirm whether or not you are eligible to flex your plan at this time.

2 Choose your Plan

Select your preferred flex plan that best suits your needs. Click NEXT.

3 Student Information

Accurately complete all fields on the student information section. Click NEXT.

4 Read and Agree to the Terms and Conditions

Click on the checkbox to confirm you have read and agree to the Terms and Conditions agreement. Click SUBMIT to finish your application.

5 Confirmation Email

Check your email to confirm you have received your confirmation email. Keep this email as its your only proof of applying to flex your plan. If you do not receive this email confirmation, contact the Benefits Plan Office before the deadline.

6 Application Status

You will receive an email with the status of your application within 7-10 business days.

7 Activation of the Flex Plan

If your application is approved, Your flex plan option will be reflected on your insurance account after 45 days from the official start date of the term.

Things to consider:

Students can Flex their benefit plan only once. Once their Flex plan is approved, it will remain in effect for all future terms.
Students choosing to Flex their Benefits must be enrolled in BOTH the Health and the Dental plan.
Approval of the Student Benefits Plan Flex Plan application will result in your plan choice being reflected on your insurance account after 60 days from the start of the term.
NO EXCEPTIONS will be made if the deadline is missed.

The winter Flex you Plan deadline is closed.

The winter deadline to apply was February 8^th, 2024. The online Flex your Plan Form is not available at this time. The online form was open from December 1^st, 2023, until February 8^th, 2024.

NO EXCEPTIONS will be made if the deadline is missed.

If you were eligible for the plan for the first time in the fall or winter term and missed the deadline, your next opportunity to apply should be in the fall 2024 or winter 2025 term respectively.

The online form will be open for new or returning students enrolling in the plan for the first time in the spring-summer term on April 1^st, 2024, and the deadline to apply is June 10^th, 2024.

Eligibility Confirmation

Confirm your eligibility to flex your Student Benefits Plan by completing the following questions.

Are you a new student who has been assessed the Health fee and the Dental fee on your student account?

You can only be assessed the Student Benefits Plan fees if you meet the plan eligibility criteria. Check the Student Benefits Plan Eligibility Criteria.

Student Health and Dental Plan Enrollment

Eligibility Criteria to be automatically enrolled in the Student Benefits Plan.

All eligible domestic and international students who meet the following criteria are automatically enrolled in the Student Benefits Plan.

registered in an eligible study career program as having full-time status; and
Assessed the Student Association fee; and
Residing in Canada studying in person or online; and
Under the age of 70.

If you are not sure if you meet the eligibility criteria, please visit MyBVC.ca and log in using your account. If you see the Health and Dental fees included in your tuition, you are covered by the Health and Dental Plan provided by the Students Association

Are you a returning student on the anniversary of your enrollment in the Student Benefits Plan, who has been assessed the Health fee and the Dental fee on your student account?

The anniversary refers to when you first became eligible for the Student Plan and were assessed the fees. For instance, if you were first eligible for the Student Plan in the winter term, your anniversary would happen every winter term.

You meet the eligibility criteria to flex your Student Benefits Plan at this time.

The deadline to submit your health and dental opt-out application is June 10^th, 2024. After the deadline, the online form will be not available.

Complete the online form below to submit your application. Completing the questionnaire does not mean that your application is approved the Student Benefits Plan Office will confirm your eligibility and process your application.

You must be enrolled in both the Health and Dental Plan to flex your Plan. If you opted out of the Health or Dental Plan, you do not qualify to flex your plan.

There is a 60-day validation period from the start of the term. Your flex plan option will not be reflected on your account until the end of the validation period. The validation period applies to new and returning students.

Once you submit the Flex Your Plan form, you will receive an automated email confirmation. Please keep this email for your records as it is your only proof of submitting a flex plan request.

The next opportunity to submit your online application would be on the anniversary of your enrollment in the Student Benefits Plan. You must be eligible for the plan at that time and have never applied to flex your plan.
